El Vocho #25

Visited the local art supply store yesterday and picked up a new brush--my two stand by brushes had gone a bit dead on me. An inkslinger like me needs a brush that I can enter into a give and take with, I mess with it's expressive potentials until we arrive at an unconscious fluid marriage of precise description & creation of a little world that is so much more than ink on white paper.
A good new brush is right up there with puttin' new strings on your guitar!

i haven't been able to get into a standard brush since getting used to the pentel pocketbrush. the #2 watercolor brushes just feel super stiff to me now. what did you end up with?

I got the brush at an art supply store here in Oaxaca, the words on the brush are as follows: 2 Serra Mexico 779 Pura Germany. Make of that what you will! I like Winsor Newton brushes but have not found them here.
To keep the brush soft, I wash it in this nasty cleaning fluid for technical pens, it's good for cleaning black india ink. I also wash it with soapy water.
I've gotten a couple decent brushes here. My real problem is I'm not spending enough time cartooning these days to really master them!
I spend too much time dicking around with my guitar. It's a lot of fun, but it would take the rest of my life to catch my guitar up to my brush skills.
